KINGFISHER
A “longfish” design, the Kingfisher is a low-rocker trimming and gliding surfboard. Its long, tapering rail line produces “directional” turning (i.e. maximum projection). The board gathers-up all the available energy in soft beach or point break surf, which translates to surprising amounts of speed and makes for dynamic banking and gliding. Hop forward and weight the nose area for tucked-in speed trims. In bigger surf, the design catches waves well outside the usual take off zone, and on broad glassy faces the rider can lay down “accelerating arcs” in the turning. Beamish designed a board-specific keel for the Kingfisher that is manufactured by the excellent True Ames Fin Company, and the boards can also be run with the True Ames Twin for freer turning. Available in sizes 6’8” to 8’2”.
