KINGFISHER

7’7” - 8’3” $1200

A classic “longfish” design, the Kingfisher provides drive and projection in small waves and bigger surf. I designed a set of Surfboards California keels for the Kingfisher that True Ames Fins manufactures. These keels have a longer base than a twin and are more upright than a traditional keel, giving the boards more pivot through turns than classic fish keels. The Kingfisher design grew out of a 1957 Pat Curren Gun Outline I utilized for Mavericks Guns. I retained the classic fuller nose (which I think of as a “Makaha” nose) with a long, tapering outline and a swallow tail for a “double pintail” effect. These twin keel designs are essentially two single fins set together, side-by-side.
